About National Humanitarian Mine Action Committee (NHMAC)

THE NHMAC is a Committee under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. It was inaugurated on the 20th of October 2022 in reaction to the FGN and state governments in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states process of returning , resettlement, reintegrating and rehabilitating IDPs and refugees to long abandoned settlements, roads, farmlands , schools and children’s playgrounds, one inevitable potential danger in conflict areas , is the threat of different kinds of  explosive ordnances(EOs).

Making our Communities Safe Again

The 2022  UN Humanitarian Response Plan Issued February 2022 and  endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, has   identified Mine Action as one of the key strategic tasks to be tackled in their joint efforts in providing an environment in which personal security is ensured for the local populations in the north east

Our Mission

NHMAC’s principal task is to be the principal entity responsible for policy making, management, overseeing and co-ordination of Humanitarian Mine Action in Nigeria

Our Goal

Our goal is to protect civilians from the indiscriminate effect of explosive ordnances, abandoned during armed conflict and to facilitate the safe return of IDPs, refugees as well as the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid, such as food, shelter, and medical supplies.
